The Interrupters ~ 2011

Great documentary about a group of former gang members who have left the life and now work to interrupt violence before it happens by walking the streets of Chicago's worst neighborhoods.
Partly uplifting, partly sad, can't help but admire the men and women who have now made it their life work to bring an end to violence and introduce a new way to express anger and solve conflict. It's a huge job. Hopefully they are leading by example. Wish every city with a problem could have a franchise of these brave, dedicated folks. Bravo to them. Must have been a difficult film to do, lots of real encounters, lots of funerals, but ultimately, loads of hope.
Documentary that is not, but should have been nominated for an Oscar this year.
